I have problems with any private civilian firm doing any military job. I was not there, so I really can not comment on the case mentioned above, but in generalities I believe Blackwater and those like them, are a mistake.

I have a friend who owns a civilian security company. I know that in certain times of the year, her hiring requirements drop to "has a pulse and can pass a background check". These are armed guards, some of which I personally would not trust with a water pistol. One that I will call Barney was actually playing with his gun in his apartment and accidentally shot the neighbor upstairs through the ceiling/floor. Her injuries were minor, and they let him keep his armed guard license. Scary huh?

I have no reason to believe that firms like blackwater are not much different. They may throw in ex cia, seal or whatever and a pulse, but the bottom line is, when they have a shortage, they probably will drop the standards before dropping a contract. How many of these ex's are ex's because of misconduct or failing psych tests? How many of these ex's were found not fit for any reason to remain with the government branch? We will never know because they will never release that info.

I used to watch the fictional show "Jericho". The show kept getting canceled. However, I really could see the atrocities that happened there happening in real life. I do not trust my government anymore, but I trust these companies even less.
