Some dissappointing news from Florida and Alaska...But keep on fighting

    Dear Friend,

I have some disappointing news to report. Until Tuesday, Team America had won every single race that we had gotten involved in this year, but yesterday we lost two contests. David Cuddy was defeated by Ted Stevens in Alaska, and Tom Rooney edged out Gayle Harrell in Florida.

There was little we could do in Alaska. Although all initial reports viewed Ted Stevens as dead meat after his federal indictment, it soon became apparent that most Alaskan voters did not care about the criminal charges against him and would vote for Stevens no matter what he had done or what he stood for.

The real heartbreaker was in Florida, where Gayle Harrell lost by less than one percent-only 104 votes. Harrell was defeated because the GOP establishment sold her out. Breaking the tradition of staying out of open primaries, Governor Charlie Crist and his handpicked State Party chair endorsed Rooney.

Gayle would have been out of the race were it not for her tough stand on illegal immigration. According to Congressional Quarterly she was still in the running "because she has rallied support from some conservatives based on her tough position on illegal immigration ... including the Team America Political Action Committee, founded by Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo"

While this is a serious disappointment, the fact that Harrell came so close despite the odds being stacked against her shows just how powerful the issue of illegal immigration is, and how important your support of her was.

We supported Gayle over Tom Rooney because she had a dependable record on illegal immigration and she promised to make it a top priority. That said, when Rooney was pressed, he would say the right things. Harrell's campaign sends Rooney a clear message that he should make securing our borders a central theme to his campaign in the General Election.

While yesterday's votes were disappointing, we need to keep fighting! We have had some great successes already, and there are many great candidates in November. With your help we can get some fresh faces in Congress who are serious about securing our borders.

Thanks for all you are doing.

    Your friend,
    Bay

The FL race does show how important it is. Chaffetz in Utah proved that. Out spent and out advertised yet his message got out and he won in a landslide.

I don't know how true this is but someone told me Alaksa is 5 or 6 % hispanic.

I'm sure they have some illegal Indigenous Canadian Natives that cross over and have anchors as well. Could it be that the 5% of Hispanics plus maybe 10% of indigenous Canadian anchors that are swinigng the vote?

Florida is a lost cause. the unholy alliance of the Republican party and the illegal Alien Cubans make it a hard nut to crack and unless we stop giving amnesty to Cubans, it's only going to get worse. It makes sense the party stepped in during the primary. Can't offend the invaders
