$11m in narcotics seized, 1,900 immigrants apprehended in 1 week

TUCSON - In the past week, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported the seizure of over 20,000 pounds of narcotics, with an estimated value of over $11 million, and the apprehension of 1,900 illegal immigrants at the Arizona border.

Over 20,100 pounds of marijuana, 88 pounds of cocaine, and two pounds of methamphetamines were seized between November 7 and November 13, according to a news release from CBP. The agency also intercepted 15 weapons, $2,000 in outbound currency, and 51 vehicles used for illicit purposes.

The seizures were reported by CBP's Joint Force Command of Arizona, which brings together the Tucson and Yuma Border Patrol Sectors, Air Branches, Tucson Field Office, and CBP under one unified command structure, the release states.
