'Gang violence' erupts in restaurant parking lot

Farmington police are looking for suspects involved in a shoot out at a Chili's restaurant following a suspected gang confrontation.

Investigators say as many as ten men were involved in an argument that led to gunfire behind the restaurant.

Farmington officers, who were eating inside the restaurant at the time, went outside when they heard shots. That is when everyone sped off—except for 26-year-old Jesus Lovato.

Police say Lovato pointed his gun at one of the officers and a single shot was returned by cops. Lovato then surrendered.

Area residents couldn't believe gun shots were being exchanged in such a busy parking lot.

"It just astounds me that a place so small would have so many problems like that," said Kat Lerma. "I mean gangs—it's one of the stupidest things people could do."

The sheriff's office has seized two vehicles involved and is still investigating the shoot out.

Investigators think the fight was gang-related. Chili's did not want to comment, but says they are cooperating.

Governor Bill Richardson of NM must be so proud of HIS PEOPLE...and he wonders why people are outraged because of IA, break one crime to be here break them all because there are no consequences and if anything they get more benefits for breaking the law...Need healthcare? This is unfortunately and IA loving state with one of the most highest populations of them around. Sorry, but you get what you ask for....gee whiz, come to think of it same as my home state of CA!

Yep I know what u mean. Here in Cali we have a 14 billion debt with 433 million coming from LA alone in funds to IA...
