Finally someone stood up around here. The local hand wringers and criminal enablers began turning up in the news within minutes. The local Fox news is issuing its' "legal" opinion based on ACLU challenges in other cities. If you have a kind word for Councilman Hawkins he'll need it. Help me out here. Metro Council member Doug Hawkins is proposing a resolution calling on local government departments to adopt policies for dealing with illegal immigrants who seek services and benefits.

Hawkins, who says he will also propose an ordinance on the issue at some point, is seeking to block illegal immigrants from getting some services, such as access to health clinics or housing assistance, at taxpayer expense.

Bart Weigel, a spokesman for Catholic Charities, said, however, "We would have some serious considerations in why you would deny someone a basic service."
