1000 businesses out of 7,000,000 businesses in the United States. 1000 down, 6,999,000 to go.

Personally, I like Sheriff Joe's approach. If that approach was used nationwide, this problem would be solved in less than 5 years.

Wake Up Sheriffs, Chiefs of Police and State Highway Patrols.

Why don't they ever go after the small construction and landscaping companies all over the country who employ the majority of illegals? There are thousands upon thousands of illegals in these industries alone who are still employed and keeping Americans out of work.

To seek out unscrupulous employers is all well and good. But what should have been done beforehand was for Congress to pass legislation to make E-Verify mandatory for all US employers. This way, DHS wouldn't have to handle the auditing workload all by itself. Some of these employers might have weeded-out their illegal workers on their own.
