U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized about 1,200 pounds of marijuana, 21 pounds of cocaine, 2 pounds of heroin and 18 pounds of methamphetamine at the Arizona border this weekend.

A 45-year-old Mexican citizen tried to hide the heroin in his shoes and walk into the country through the Morely Avenue Pedestrian crossing in Nogales about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a press release from Customs and Border Protection.

Earlier that day, officers arrested a 24-year-old Mexican citizen after finding 21 pounds of cocaine inside the floor of a 1992 Toyota pickup he was driving through the Dennis DeConcini port-of-entry in Nogales.

Before that, officers at the Lukeville port-of-entry busted a 22-year-old man from Phoenix who had 1,236 pounds of marijuana hidden in a compartment in the front of a trailer he was pulling. The man was driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup with the trailer that had all terrain vehicles inside it.

The man acted suspiciously during routine questioning, so officers decided to thoroughly search the trailer.

About 8 p.m. Saturday, officers working at the Mariposa port-of-entry arrested a 43-year-old woman, a Mexican citizen, after finding nearly 18 pounds of methamphetamine inside the gas tank of a Ford Expedition she was driving.
