1,632 pounds of marijuana seized

DEMING, N.M. (AP) - U.S. Border Patrol agents have seized more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana from a stolen pickup truck in southwestern New Mexico.

The agents assigned to the Deming station say the pickup truck illegally entered the United States from Mexico on Thursday and traveled north on a farm road toward New Mexico 9.

Authorities say the truck made a U-turn and headed back toward Mexico.

Officials say the truck stopped, the driver and a passenger fled on foot to Mexico, and agents seized the marijuana.
