Learned about this news while listening to the radio where I heard an interview with Supervisor Stone and came here to see if anyone had posted news about it. This would be a dream come true.

Supervisor Proposing 13 Counties Secede From California

Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone, 3rd District, announced Thursday that he will ask leaders in 13 counties to begin discussions about seceding from the State of California.
Under the proposal, Riverside, Imperial, San Diego, Orange, San Bernardino, Kings, Kern, Fresno, Tulare, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa and Mono would be asked to consider forming a 51st state, the State of South California.
Boards of supervisors and city councils within those counties would be invited to meet and discuss the feasibility of secession from California, Stone said in a statement sent by Ray Smith, spokesman for the Riverside County Executive Office.
"He is so disenfranchised with the state's inabilities," said Verne Lauritzen, Stone's chief of staff, in a phone interview late Thursday.
"So he is recommending we start some discussions with other counties, and there are lots of them.
"He is dead serious."
Lauritzen said Stone, who represents the communities of Murrieta, Temecula, Menifee, Canyon Lake, Hemet and San Jacinto, as well as several unincorporated areas, is largely frustrated with the Legislature's passage of Senate Bill 89.
The bill threatens to dismantle newly incorportated cities because it diverts vehicle license fee revenue to fund public safety.
The bill would drastically affect newly incorporated cities of Wildomar, Menifee, Eastvale and Jurupa Valley, Lauritzen said.
All are dependent on the vehicle license fee revenue.
Wildomar stands to lose $1.8 million in revenues if SB 89 is not amended. Potential revenue losses for the three other new cities are even higher, with Eastvale standing to lose $3.1 million, Jurupa losing $6.2 million, and Menifee dropping $3.9 million, according to a letter written by legislators to Gov. Jerry Brown.
The legislators asked the governor to return Senate Bill 89 to lawmakers for amendments.
“This revenue accounts for 20 percent to 25 percent of the entire budget for these new cities. These cities will be seriously impacted by this realignment and will have way no ability to recover from this devastating loss of revenue. The four cities in Western Riverside County (and unknown others statewide) may be forced into bankruptcy or un-incorporation as a direct result of this bill,â€
Also during the interview he gave his website in case people want to send him a message.

:D Great idea!Quote:
Stone suggested the new state consider a part-time legislature, shifting governance more toward local control. Part-time legislators might receive only a $600 per month stipend and no other financial benefits except travel expenses to the new state capitol, he said.
Also open for consideration would be doing away with term limits, actually enforcing the state’s borders, adopting reasonable sales taxes and a provision like Prop. 13 that would control property taxes.
What's he going to do with all the illegal invaders currently squatting within his district? Riverside is loaded with illegal invaders! What's the plan for that?
Is Hesperia included? (That's where my daughter and her family live) and I don't know what county Hesperia is.....
Interesting. I wonder what the law says about something like this? Wouldn't Congress have to approve the creation of a new state?
Yes, Hesperia is in San Bernardino County.Quote:

Look at the salary of Temecula City Manager. $336,000. 8O
How many Cops would that salary employ? Talk about bloated salaries? Talk about greed? They have to secede because of people like this run the coffers dry ! They need to buy a tour bus motorhome, and live in a McMansion, instead of a nice house, and a small motorhome. The folks that are upset are those city managers, city police chiefs, fire chiefs, etc... that need their $150,000 gubment salary. I just heard they are going to get the money they need from ticketing folks for every little thing they can.

Tired of illegal immigration, high taxes—CA supervisor proposes secession

July 1, 2011
On Thursday, Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone issued a statement proposing that his, along with several other counties secede from California and form a new state to be known as South California.
Stone said that this new state would be free from the rest of California and therefore would be able to secure their borders, balance the budget and enjoy better schools.
Under Stone’s plan, the following counties would form the new state: Riverside, Imperial, San Diego, Orange, San Bernardino, Kings, Kern, Fresno, Tulare, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa and Mono.
Stone said: “Our taxes are too high, our schools don’t educate our children well enough, unions and other special interests have more clout in the Legislature than the general public.â€
We are left to assume the reason illegal aliens collect food stamps, don't pay Hospital Bills, and etc... is they send money back to their home Countries. I have never seen an average amount they send home, personally, and if the gap between that, and what an American would make would sustain an American replacing the illegal alien. Considering the blatant amount of greed oozing across America, and other political/ societal/religious issues as well of course. It however is possibly a step in the right direction.

San Bernardino is the largest county in the United States. It is a war zone for Mexican drug gangs. The mortgage default rate is horrendous.
It's amazing that the state would allow so many to invade it for work. If California has 1,000,000 illegals working there, that's 1 million jobs for Americans. I think the number must be much higher. What country would allow an invasion like that and look the other way? Wait. We would and have. Nuts if you ask me. I don't think Mexico would allow 1 million illegals there, do you?
I live in Riverside County

They'll tell you how back in the day of the Mexican Cesar Chavez farm labor revolution illegal aliens first became emboldened to openly picket for 'working rights' under the guise of 'human rights.' The State of California and the US Federal Government allowed this, and nothing has been the same since.
They will also tell you that these illegal alien farm workers went on to gain illegal identities by using the social security numbers of their children to establish legal residence and identities, then to RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICE.
As more and more illegal aliens were elected to public office (by the sheer number of other American Mexicans and then illegal alien Mexican voting for them), ILLEGAL ALIENS TOOK OVER THE CALIFORNIA STATE GOVERNMENT.
Talk to any Californian who knows the history of that state first-hand for the past fifty years and they will confirm this.
This deceptive formula worked, and it has been used millions of times in every state of the country.
As goes California, so goes the rest of the country.
I am not sure what the law states about California but I do know there are a few states like Montana that have a clause in their charter that states if the federal gove tries to take certain rights away from the people here we can leave the union. One of those rights is the removal of guns from the general public. That is why Obama has not come here and has not addressed strong gun control in this state.
Has a group of counties ever tried to secede from a state and form their own new state before? I kinda doubt Kalifornia would allow it to happen. If it got too far I'm sure they'd use the California National Guard to stop it. It is interesting though.
These counties of California are just beginning to recognize that they are an occupied territory of the invasion by Mexico. The federal and state governments have and are failing in their primary duty to protect their citizens from foreign invasion. We should all secede.
History shows that governments don't take too kindly to secession.Quote:

If these counties secede from Mexifornia, form their own new state, and pass or enforce immigration laws, then likely all the illegal invaders in Riverside will leave.Quote:

West Virginia became a state following the Wheeling Conventions, breaking away from Virginia during the American Civil War. The new state was admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863, and was a key Civil War border state. West Virginia was the only state to form by seceding from a Confederate state, and was one of only two states formed during the American Civil War (the other one being Nevada, which separated from Utah Territory).

The only time in America's history that a state was able to divide into 2 parts was back in 1863, when West Virginia split apart from Virginia.
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_West_Virginia
On May 13, the state legislature of the reorganized government approved the formation of the new state. An application for admission to the Union was made to Congress, and on December 31, 1862 an enabling act was approved by President Lincoln admitting West Virginia on the condition that a provision for the gradual abolition of slavery be inserted in the Constitution.[citation needed] [15][16] The Convention was reconvened on February 12, 1863, and the demand was met. The revised constitution was adopted on March 26, 1863, and on April 20, 1863 President Lincoln issued a proclamation admitting the state at the end of sixty days (June 20, 1863). Meanwhile officers for the new state were chosen, and Governor Pierpont moved his capital to Alexandria from which he asserted jurisdiction over the counties of Virginia within the Federal lines.
[edit] LegalityThe question of the constitutionality of the formation of the new state was eventually brought before the Supreme Court of the United States, in the case of Virginia v. West Virginia, 78 U.S. 39 (1871).[17] Berkeley and Jefferson counties lying on the Potomac east of the mountains, in 1863, with the consent of the Reorganized government of Virginia voted in favor of annexation to West Virginia. Many voters absent in the Confederate army when the vote was taken refused to acknowledge the transfer upon their return. The Virginia General Assembly repealed the act of cession and in 1866 brought suit against West Virginia asking the court to declare the counties a part of Virginia which would have in essence made West Virginia's admission as a state unconstitutional. Meanwhile Congress on March 10, 1866 passed a joint resolution recognizing the transfer. The Supreme Court decided in favor of West Virginia, and there has been no further question.
I very much doubt that the state government of Kalifornia will agree to it. If the proponents take it too far, they will probably be arrested and thrown in jail. I think it's a great idea, but the powers that be are not going to let it happen.
I am all for it. Damned unions run the sanctuary cities. Union members sheep vote to elect all officials. The mayor of Lake Elsinore has the border patrol in our city once a week to clean the Main st. Ghetto out.
They can say they want to secede but it will never happen the congress and other citizens wont stand for it.All this is going to do is cause alot of talk and no actions.

Now if they were wanting to set up a new state as a "sanctuary state" where illegals were all alllowed, then I'm sure there'd be no problem.
Depends on the state constitution and details during the annexation by the US.Quote:

I have the misfortune of living in stones district, and ya gotta think about it, why would'nt his own district support his recent bid for Ca senate? Why did his district lose 80,000 people while all other districts gained population? Could it be that big developers, (that only hire illegals to keep profits high) asked stone to clear the way for their high dollar eleteist housing projects by using various county agencies to harrass people until they got fed up and moved out of this district?
You can bet that stone is going to make big bucks just on this proposal, and further, you can bet he's going to try to weasel his way in to be governer of south mexifornia, and it will be the new place to be for illegals. As has been said look what he and his family have done to the town of Temecula.
Just my humble opinions, but don't be so apathetic or lazy to vet all your elected officials and know where they truly stand on issues that concern you!
Kind of interesting. Says CA has made 27 attempts.
The most recent attempts:
The California State Senate voted on June 4, 1965, to divide California into two states, with the Tehachapi Mountains as the boundary. Sponsored by State Senator Richard J. Dolwig (D-San Mateo), the resolution proposed to separate the 7 southern counties, with a majority of the state's population, from the 51 other counties, and passed 27-12. To be effective, the amendment would have needed approval by the State Assembly, by California voters, and by the United States Congress. As expected by Dolwig, the proposal did not get out of committee in the Assembly.[11] A previous proposal to this effect, the Pico Act, was advanced in 1859-1860 but was tabled due to the American Civil War and never revived (see above).
In 1992, State Assemblyman Stan Statham sponsored a bill to allow a referendum in each county on a partition into three new states: North, Central, and South California. The proposal passed in the State Assembly but died in the State Senate.[12][13]
In the wake of the 2003 gubernatorial recall, Tim Holt[14] and Martin Hutchinson[15] proposed in newspaper op-eds that the state should split into as many as four new states, dividing distinct geographically and politically defined regions as the Bay Area, North Coast, and Central Valley, as well as the historic Shasta/Jefferson region, into their own states.
In early 2009, former State Assemblyman Bill Maze began lobbying to split thirteen coastal counties, which usually vote Democratic, into a separate state to be known as either "Coastal California" or "Western California." Maze's primary reason for wanting to split the state was because of how "conservatives don't have a voice" and how Los Angeles and San Francisco "control the state." The counties that would make up the new state would be Marin, Contra Costa, Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties (San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties vote Republican more often than Democratic but are included for geographic contiguity).[16]
In June 2011, Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone called for Riverside, Imperial, San Diego, Orange, San Bernardino, Kings, Kern, Fresno, Tulare, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa and Mono Counties to separate from California to form the new state of South California. State officials responded derisively, with governor Jerry Brown's spokesman issuing the statement "What is this, 1860?" and fellow supervisor Bob Buster calling Stone "crazy," suggesting "Stone has gotten too much sun recently."[1

I'm sure the state and fed gov wouldn't like it, but who cares? They're not doing what they're supposed to. The question is can the fed or state of Cal legally stop these counties if they want to secede? Can congress stop them? I thought the federal gov is only supposed to have the power the states give to them. Somehow its been all turned around. But that doesn't mean it should be that way, or has to be, or it can't be changed back.Quote:

Official Calls For Riverside, 12 Other Counties To Secede From California
ONE GUY suggested this.
Not likely to happen anytime soon, or ever.
I agree, I don't think theres any chance of such a thing happening right now, I know this was just one guy. But I wish it would. I've been curious for a long time now about the possibility of a state seceding from the union, if things ever get much worse. I never considered the possibility of counties seceding from a state. Its an interesting idea. Though obviously, they'd still be stuck with the same federal gov.Quote:
