American border officials say they've arrested an Algerian fugitive who was stowed away in a railway car crossing the border from Canada into the U.S. at Blaine, Wash.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say the man was discovered Tuesday when the train passed through an X-ray imaging station that revealed his outline aboard the freight car.

The stowaway told American border officials he was from San Salvador, but officers ran his fingerprints through a national database and turned up a felony arrest warrant out of Seattle.

Forty-two-year-old Makthar Chebil was arrested and turned over to the Whatcom Country Sheriff's Office.

He faces charges of manufacture, delivery and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
