PHOENIX - The man behind Arizona's new immigration law is getting an infusion of support in the form of 126,000 petition signatures.

The petition praising SB 1070 was delivered Friday to bill sponsor, State Senator Russell Pearce, in the John Wayne Room of Cindy's Arizona Café.

The signatures were gathered by a group named ResistNet, which supports conservative causes including Arizona's immigration law.

"Well I am more than honored. We are a nation of laws and America is on our side. I am like you I get frustrated by media who does not help the case. Every time you pick up the paper it says controversial -- controversial with who?" Pearce said to his audience.

Sen. Pearce now wants to pass a bill to deny American citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.

"It's illegal to enter and illegal to remain in violation of federal law. And yet we give you the greatest inducement to break our laws -- to make your child a citizen?" he said.
