13 Cuban migrants caught off Mexico's coast

CANCUN, Mexico — Mexican authorities have detained 13 U.S.-bound Cuban migrants whose makeshift boat reached the country's Caribbean coast after an engine failed.

Cancun police spokesman Esteban Romero says hotel security guards spotted the group early Tuesday. He says the Cubans told police they were headed to Miami when one of their boat's engines died and currents carried them to Mexico.

Romero says the 10 men and three women were treated for dehydration and lack of food. One also had an ankle injury. The group has been turned over to migration officials, who will send them back to Cuba.

Raaciiism. They should immediately be welcomed with free health care, housing, education and all their children should become instant Mexican citizens so their whole families can enjoy the benefits.

They wouldn't stay in Mexico if you gave 'em the whole place.

They want to get to America, where all of their relatives live.

The Cubans know its easy to come to the U.S. from Mexico.
