VAIL - When a storm with snow and high winds blew through Colorado on Monday night and closed Vail Pass, 14 illegal immigrants spilled from a pickup truck that had spun off the road.

Wearing only jeans and short- sleeved shirts, all but two scattered, and one made it three miles away before Eagle County deputies tracked him down and captured him.

Carl Rusnok, spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said the 14 - three from Mexico and 11 from Guatemala - were taken to the ICE detention center in Denver and await deportation.

He said their destination in the U.S. wasn't known.

Rusnok said the agency does not keep statistics on where illegals are captured, so he wasn't able to say how many are arrested each year on Interstate 70 through Colorado, which has become a pipeline for illegal trafficking.
