    Heated Debate On Voter ID Bill In Austin

    AUSTIN (KRLD) – Tuesday’s Austin hearing on the Voter ID bill got a little out of hand.

    The Texas State House Committee on Voter ID was taking testimony from NAACP State President Gary Bledsoe when Dallas Representative Rafael Anchia, who attended the meeting even though he is not on the committee, stopped him.

    “I apologize Mr. Bledsoe. I’m very distracted. Mr. Green in the front row keeps mouthing the words bull**** over and over again. I find it extremely offensive,â€

    House committee takes on voter ID bill

    A state House committee overseeing voter fraud and identification went to hearing Tuesday morning.

    Dozens filled Room 140 at the JHR Building in the Capitol complex to testify before the nine-member committee on SB 14.

    The bill would require most Texas voters to provide proof of identification before casting a ballot. The Senate approved the bill in January. It is now before the House committee.

    The representatives spent hours Tuesday morning listening to dozens of witnesses taking turns at the podium. Arguments went back and forth. Many Democrat lawmakers do not approve the bill.
