15 States Now in State of Emergency! Bush declares emergency
ALIPAC: George Bush has added 8 states with the largest illegal alien populations to the declared emergency list! This brings the total to 15 states are now in emergency condition.... (illegal immigration, Katrina, President George Bush, laws, crimes, Congress, Americans)
New Mexico and Arizona declared states of emergency a few weeks ago due to violence on the border.
According to Fema: Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama declared states of emergency due to storm damage on 8/27 and 8/28.
Arkansas and Texas joined the list on 9/2/2005.
Geoerge Bush added 8 states to the list claiming this will allow them to receive federal aid. The 8 states are Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida, West Virginia, North Carolina, Utah, and Colorado.
Fifteen states are now in declared states of emergency with possible emergency powers enabled.

Did the hurricane really affect Colorado and Utah or is Bush just trying to spend more money that we don't have?

Sorry we do have the money but it isn't money it is wealth......problem is is that it isn't spread around real well. it amazes me how when the lottery gets to 300 million people can spend millions on the chance of a lifetime but try to get people to pay $50 more in property taxes to build a new school and they vote NO!
The wealth is there......but where is it spent? Priorities or the lack thereof...like IMMIGRATION enforcement?

Fox news reported that he did it to free up Federal funds for states taking on storm survivors.
Other states with low illegal alien populations that are also taking on survivors are not added. South Carolina is a good example.

I heard on the TV news last night that my little state (population wise) of South Dakota may be taking up to 1,000 survivors, but South Dakota is not on the declared emergency list. However, Utah which I read someplace is taking only 600 evacuees is on the list. It does seem a little strange.
But, maybe the facts aren't all in yet and Bush has to wait to see if evacuees actually go to a state before putting it on the list.
I do get the feeling that the government/Red Cross, whoever is doing it, will be relocating illegal aliens along with U.S. citizens to other states rather than back to their home country. It was also announced on the news that local authorities were looking for people fluent in French or Spanish to help with survivors as they come in. I'm a little surprised about the French part -- that there must be or they think that there are French only speaking (ex-) residents in the hurricane areas. At least that is something I wasn't aware of. I suppose it would be a little awkward to exclude illegal aliens considering the time and place, but it also seems wacko that Mexico is sending troops, etc. here primarily to help its own citizens (as I gathered from the other article) rather than at least offering to relocate them back to Mexico to help them. Mexico has resources and money to help them here, but doesn't have the resources to help them there? It doesn't make sense to me other than it continues the Mexican policy of making sure its citizens have benefits and rights here, but not in Mexico itself.

Gee, now we see 45,000 to 300,000 National Guard Groups come out of America's woodwork for Katrina---- oh yeah, Mr. President (Mr. Homeland Security)--the ability to secure the Border HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE.
I certainly don't mean to detract from the desperate need of help by the National Guard in the Katrina disaster and the incredible duty they provide. Just LOTS of eye-opening stuff coming out of this disaster.........

Well, of course, the large illegal Alien population of this affected area have scattered like flees like they always do.....run all over trashing things. This is the true message of emergency money......just like the truth behind the NC lottery money going to education is because of illegal Alien destroyed NC schools like Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
Race issue for Katrina?? Where's all those La Raza Hispanics in the news that scream racism instead of talking about Blacks....... that's right, most of them are illegal Aliens......sssshhhhhh -No TV or news about those adorned glorious La Raza racist Groups.
