Gunfire and flames erupted along the border near Douglas.

Border Patrol agents saw two trucks using ramps to get over the border fence last night.

When the agents got close, the trucks tried to turn around and flee, but the agents deployed spike strips and stopped them. Then just south of the border fence, a man began firing an automatic rifle at the agents.

Several other armed men climbed over the fence and began unloading marijuana from one of the disabled trucks, throwing it back across the border.

As agents surrounded them, the men set fire to the truck and fled.

Agents secured the second truck and inside discovered more than a half-ton of marijuana with a street value of a million dollars
