Obama energizes amnesty supporters at Hispanic prayer event

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama says those opposing a pathway to citizenship for the millions of undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. shouldn't have amnesia about how the country began. He says America is a nation of immigrants.

Speaking at an annual Hispanic prayer breakfast in Washington, Obama also recalled times past when religious communities helped change the country. He talked about Episcopalians in Boston, where early patriots planned the Revolution, and Baptist churches in the South that sparked the civil rights movement.

Obama says he'll keep pushing and trying to work with Congress on the immigration issue. But he said again that building a widespread movement is the only way to get a comprehensive overhaul of the immigration system.

GOPUSA Editor: Here's an Obama quote reported by the LA Times.

"I'll keep pushing and working with Congress," Obama said. "But the only way we are going to get this done is by building a widespread movement for reform. That's why I'm asking you to keep preaching and persuading your congregations and communities. That's why I'm asking you to keep on activating, getting involved, mobilizing. That's why we all need to keep praying."

    No thanks

    No thanks Obama...

Amnesty only guarantees more waves of Illegals and a call for the next amnesty down the road. You only wish to purpetuate our Illegal Immigration problem and entice many millions more to flood across the border looking for another amnesty...

    No way. We want enforcement...

Isn't it "funny" how often religion gets drug into this issue on behalf of the bad guys? If anything, the churches should be praying for US!!!!!

The difference between former generations of immigrants and today's illegal aliens is the first group wanted to be a part of the American people and came legally by the books. The second group isn't legal and doesn't want to be a part of the American people, it only wants to annilate us and replace us with a new nation of their own....what part of the contrast don't our sociopathic governmental officials understand?????!!!!!

We have been a country of SKILLED immigrants. That is how we were able to preserve our freedom and not become subject to some OTHER colonial power.
