U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (07/27/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 22,884 pounds of marijuana and 35.5 pounds of methamphetamine. Agents arrested 14 criminal aliens and 16 gang members. There were five rocking incidents.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Falfurrias, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the commonwealth of Virginia for carnal knowledge of a child and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador in Edinburg, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang and records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 35.5 pounds of methamphetamine, a Chrysler sedan, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Pine Valley, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the sedan and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the methamphetamine.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Santa Cruz, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Kohatk, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd or lascivious acts with a child and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 448 pounds of marijuana, a .357 caliber handgun, ammunition, a knife, and arrested three illegal aliens from Mexico near Arivaca, Arizona. Agents tracked the foot sign of the aliens to an abandoned structure where they apprehended the subjects and seized the contraband and weapons.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Texas for indecency with a child and an active warrant of arrest for failure to register as a sex offender. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a small amount of marijuana, a Cadillac sedan, a .38 caliber pistol, a .22 caliber rifle, 580 rounds of ammunition, and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, Texas. Records checks revealed the handgun was reported stolen.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Palmhurst, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a registered sex-offender and had been previously removed from the United States.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Alpine, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Paisanos prison gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,093 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Suburban near Los Ebanos, Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for sexual assault issued in the state of Oregon, and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for felony possession of narcotics and carrying a concealed weapon, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued four USCs from the Rio Grande River near Lajitas, Texas. Agents responded to a call for assistance and discovered the four subjects in the water being dragged by strong currents. Agents were able to rescue all four subjects.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,762 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Border Brothers gang and records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a cargo truck and arrested a USC and 12 illegal aliens from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the illegal aliens.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,405 pounds of marijuana and recovered two stolen trucks abandoned near Why, Arizona.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Latin Boys gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for carrying a loaded firearm in public and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two nationals of Mexico, seven illegal aliens and seized a tractor-trailer at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The nationals of Mexico presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the illegal aliens concealed within the tractor.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hidalgo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault of a child and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions in the state of California for assault and rape and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureños Chiques gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Agents observed the subject in distress while attempting to cross the All American Canal. Agents utilized a rescue rope to extract the subject from the water and pull him to safety.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,373 pounds of marijuana and a Ford truck near Laredo, Texas. After observing agents, the driver of the truck crashed through a fence and abandoned the vehicle. The marijuana was found in the abandoned truck.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Falfurrias, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 11,803 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Hidalgo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Louisiana for carnal knowledge of a juvenile (sexual assault) and had been previously removed from the United States.
