2 men ID’d as Americans shot to death while waiting at Tijuana border crossing to enter US

TIJUANA, Mexico — Two men who prosecutors identified as U.S. citizens were shot to death in their vehicle early Monday as they waited at a Tijuana-area border crossing to enter the United States.

Prosecutors in Baja California state quote witnesses as saying a gunman approached the line of vehicles waiting at the San Ysidro border crossing and fired into the men’s pickup truck, hitting the victims in the head, arms and body.

The state Attorney General’s Office says the men were U.S. citizens aged 25 and 28. The U.S. consulate in Tijuana did not immediately return phone calls seeking confirmation. There was no immediate information on their hometowns.

Investigators said they found 9-mm shell casings at the scene. That ammunition is used in weapons favored by drug cartel gunmen in Mexico.

The shooting occurred before dawn Monday. The men’s pickup had California plates. Both victims were dead by the time authorities arrived.

I dont understand why any american would want to go there.But i guess they can go down there and buy their cheap stuff.As many people that are killed there everyday one would think people in their right minds wouldnt even consider going there.Its so bad that even police cheifs are leaving it.

It's kind of hard to feel sorry for any American who insists on going into Mexico what with all the violence going on there! As far as Krapolian, we'll be reading soon that she "feels that it was an isolated, unfortunate occurance". What else would we expect from a dillusional back-stabber?

yeah its sad about this, but you do have to wonder why is anyone crossing the border into mexico knowing how had the situation is there.

MMA Fighter Among 2 Americans Murdered at Tijuana Border Crossing

TIJUANA, Mexico (KTLA) -- Mexican authorities have identified the two American men who were murdered in Tijuana as 25-year-old Sergio Salcido Luna (Moon) -- a mixed martial fighter -- and his friend 28-year-old Kevin Joel Romero.

The men were gunned down while sitting in their white pickup truck at the San Ysidro border crossing in Tijuana at 2:40 a.m. Monday.

Witnesses told police that a gunman approached their truck and opened fire, striking the men in the head, arms and body.

The gunman got away, but detectives say they found 9-mm shell casings at the scene, ammunition used in weapons favored by the drug cartel in Mexico.

According to mmavalor.com, Salcido, had moved from his home in Bakersfield to San Diego and then Mexico to chase his dream of being an MMA fighter.

State authorities have reported five homicides in Tijuana since the beginning of April and 49 murders in March.

Pair, described as ‘good guys,’ were waiting to enter U.S.

TIJUANA — In a rare shooting at the San Ysidro border crossing, two San Diego workers were killed early Monday as they sat in a pickup waiting to enter the U.S. The men were on their way to work when someone shot them repeatedly with a 9 mm weapon.

The Baja California Attorney General’s Office identified the victims as Kevin Joel Romero, 28, and Sergio Salcido Luna, 25. The agency provided few details of the incident, which occurred at about 2:40 a.m., a time when many workers are in line to cross.

The men’s employer said they lived in Tijuana and worked for West Coast Beverage Maintenance, a company on Morena Boulevard that services and cleans draft beer equipment for bars and restaurants.

Matt Pelot, the company’s owner, said Romero and Salcido had worked for him for about 1 1/2 years. He said both were U.S. citizens who lived in Mexico to keep down expenses.

Local media is now saying that this may be a love triangle killing.
One of the guys was dating a woman with a jealous ex-boyfriend.

These killings took place in Mexico, not the U.S.
