2 held in fatal smugglingSTUART - (AP) -- Two men were charged with murder Saturday in the death of a man who was discovered near the area where authorities found 12 Jamaican migrants and a beached boat.

Ricky Thompson, 40, and Johnson Leon Brice, 38, were being held without bond in a Martin County jail, a sheriff's department said.

The men were spotted by deputies in a taxicab near Blowing Rocks Preserve in Hobe Sound early Saturday. The men were covered with sand and dehydrated, the release said.

The deputies called a detective handling the case of the migrants and the drowning of Nigel Warren, 58, of Jamaica.

After speaking with Thompson and Brice, Detective Lt. John Silvas arrested the two men, the release said.

Deputies on Friday found a 36-foot Intrepid boat beached about 100 yards south of a marina, close to where Warren's body was found. The group of 12 Jamaicans were found near the boat, and authorities also found a handgun and a bag of drugs that field tested positive for heroin.

The sheriff's office said Thompson and Brice broke into a house, and spent the night and day in the woods around the preserve.

Both men deny being involved in the beached boat and death of Warren. Additional charges may be added. It was not immediately known who owned the boat.
