Army and Police main causes of Disappearances in Mexico

Morelia - Revenge between members of criminal organizations are the prime cause of disappearances in Mexico and the army is most responsible for that, according to the President of the Human Rights Commission, Raul Plascencia Villanueva.

According to the National Ombudsman, Michoacán with Tamaulipas, Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa and Nuevo Leon are the states with the highest number of disappearances as stated by a national data bank that tracks this phenomenon.

In an interview, Plascencia referred to the case of 20 Michoacáns who disappeared in Acapulco and 18 of them were found dead. The data bank records personal information of those who are missing and disappeared to provide statistical data for families and authorities to work with to find the whereabouts of the disappeared people.

“Sadly, the numbers of disappeared people have been growing, not only in Michoacán, but also in Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, Chihuahua, Sinaloa and Durango, and it is important to track all this information in a data bank,â€
