The US Customs and Border Protection apprehended over 2,000 fugitives last year -- a 15 percent increase from 2010.

Adding to that, two dozen fugitives with felony warrants out for their arrests were captured at the border over the weekend.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers were stationed at 6 border crossings in California.

The officers apprehended 20 wanted fugitives over the weekend -- all of whom had local, state or federal felony warrants out for their arrest.

One of those fugitives was 25-year-old Giovanni Vidal, wanted for attempted murder. Mexican authorities turned him over on Saturday.

Another 20-year-old suspect named Bryan Rodriguez had an active warrant for kidnapping, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office confirmed. He was arrested and booked into the San Diego County Jail on Saturday according to a CBP statement.
