The company I work for checks SS# with an online service. They only verify that the number is valid, not who it belongs to. But they could listen to their gut instinct instead of saying, "we did what the government requires".

It's a huge problem in the whole illegal alien picture and we need legislation to require the SSA and DHS to match names with numbers and then TELL US...RETROACTIVELY!! Just think...a 'privacy policy' that lets an illegal alien or an identity thief use the SS# belonging to an American citizen! Outrageous!
