Thread: 24 Illegals arrested

24 Illegal immigrants were arrested on Aug 08/06 in Lafayette,La
by the Lafayette Parrish Sheriffs dept with the help of
the Scott, La police dept. One was a sex offender who had
been deported and re-entered the country.They had acted on a tip.
There was a very brief account of this arrest on the news. Nothing
was ever reported in the Lafayette newspaper. I made calls to The Daily
Advertiser, Channel 3 news and could not get any further info on this.
I asked if they were going to be deported, where they were being
held and if ICE had been contacted. They could or would not answer
my questions. It's like they want to keep it quite.
I have called ICE but no one has returned my calls.
What else can I do to find out what is going on ? I just want some straight answers.

Do you know why they were all arrested in the first place? Were they all fugitives or felons? Any ideas?
Maybe part of a gang?

From my experience calling ICE is like talking to the wall! They want you to do the investigation and then they might detain someone and then release them if they are illegal or not!! Just because you see a headline that says "Illegal Immigrants Arrested” does not mean they are deported!! It just means they have no felony warrants, if they are who they say.
