27 Mexicans in Van Arrested by TN County, Released by Feds

    http://68.156.182.70/Default/Scripting/ ... &AppName=1

Coffee County authorities charged 27 suspected illegal aliens with criminal trespassing after the van they were in was stopped on Interstate 24, but they were later released after the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Department refused to deal with them.

According to his report, Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Blackburn stopped a 1995 GMC van for reckless driving at the 100 eastbound exit on I-24 at 11:39 p.m. Tuesday.

When Blackburn walked up to the vehicle, he discovered the driver did not speak English and had no driver’s license and that there were 26 others of Hispanic nationality packed inside.

None of the men spoke English or were U.S. citizens, the report stated, and all were transported to the Coffee County Jail and charged with criminal trespassing.

Coffee County Jail records show the men were booked at 1 a.m. Wednesday and ranged in age from 18 to 35.

All were placed under $500 bond and were to appear in General Sessions Court Wednesday.

Assistant District Attorney Felicia Walkup said the District Attorney’s Office was given the facts of the situation and “we concluded they’re not guilty of criminal trespassing.”

“There has to be a crime committed,” she said. She added that the immigration officials contacted said they did not want to deal with them, and therefore the Coffee County warrants were recalled, she said.

The men, including the driver with no license, were released about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to continue their journey to an apparently unknown destination.
It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.

Crap! We get ticketed and fined if we have no driver's license.

Why are so many law enforcement officers so willing to allow illegals to break the laws?

Its not the law officers... they had them locked up.
Its ICE that said,"We don't want to deal with this."

I am confused as to why the driver at least was not held for driving without a licsence but once they make it back from North Carolina he'll be able to show the officer a brand new valid licsence.
I also woundering if they could show prood of owership and insurance for the van. If not the sheriffs dept just got themselfs another vehicle for the auction.

Perhaps the DA didn't want to press the unlicenced driver on just the one of them... bet they were worried someone would come back and sue them.

High fives to the deputies that brought the van load in... at least someone was doing their job!
I hope they didn't get into any trouble.

Yoohoo, Miss Asst. DA, there was a crime committee darling. THEY'RE IN THE US ILLEGALLY.

OK so they turned 12 loose last week in the midwest somewhere because ICE didn't want to deal with them either. So that's 39 this week so far.

Did anybody ever figure out what they did with those 70 that were in a house in Texas? Were they arrested or did they get a visit from the Welcome Wagon?

Homeland Security again. What a blast!! This costs the taxpayers billions annually for the support of this farce. But, just turn the illegals loose...we don't want to deal with 'em...it isn't OUR job!!

Homeland Security should be disbanded and that idiot Chertoff tarred and feathered along with his boss Bush.

So much for the so-called "end to the catch and release policy" promise made by Bushwad and his moronic cronie Michael "Monte Burns" Chertoff. What a crock.

#1 - All of them committed a crime by enterring our country illegally and should have been charged and turned over to ICE.
#2 - Is this Chertoff's new policy on 'Catch & Release"?
So this is what Americans should expect from both our state and federal governments?

No crime was committed? I'm glad to hear that I won't have to renew my driver's license next year, since it's no longer a crime to drive without one.

    YIPEEEEEE!
