27 people suspected of entering U.S. illegally by boat arrested days after 26 similar arrests

Federal authorities on Saturday apprehended 27 people on two boats suspected of entering the U.S. illegally, capping a week in which more than 50 allegedly undocumented immigrants were arrested on boats off the San Diego coast, officials said.

The first of Saturday’s incidents began around 12:50 a.m. when a U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft spotted a panga-style vessel entering U.S. waters with 19 people aboard, CBP officials said.

Boats from CBP’s Air and Marine Operations unit intercepted the vessel around 2 a.m. about eight miles off the coast of Windansea Beach in La Jolla, CBP spokeswoman Agent Tekae Michael said. CBP personnel seized the smuggling vessel, and Border Patrol agents arrested two suspected smugglers and 17 passengers.

Aboard the Panga were two minors, two women and 15 men, all Mexican citizens believed to have entered the U.S. without documentation, Michael said. All were taken to a Border Patrol station, with the panga’s two operators facing potential human smuggling charges.

Around 3:30 p.m. the same day, a U.S. Coast Guard vessel stopped a pleasure craft that had entered U.S. waters from Mexican waters, Tekae said. Border Patrol agents arrested seven Mexican men and a Colombian woman who “all admitted to being in the United States illegally” and were taken to a station for processing.

The 27 arrests Saturday came the same week that 26 other people were arrested in similar incidents. On the previous Sunday, Sept. 9, a Coast Guard vessel spotted a panga boat about a mile west of Mission Bay around 6:30 p.m.

Coast Guard personnel detained the boat and its 19 occupants and contacted Border Patrol agents, who took custody of the individuals — 15 men, three women and a 15-year-old boy whom officials said were all Mexican nationals without documentation to enter the U.S.

Just a few hours later, in the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 10, CBP Air and Marine Operations personnel intercepted a pleasure craft about a mile off the coast of Pacific Beach. It was carrying two Chinese citizens and five Mexican nationals, all men, who were taken into custody by Border Patrol agents.

A similar incident in late August ended with Border Patrol agents arresting 19 suspected undocumented immigrants aboard a panga vessel about 15 miles off the San Diego coast.

He has no intention of putting his foot down. He showed that when he thumped his chest about sending the National Guard to shovel horse manure.

He intends to play the fiddle while the Titanic sinks.

He's too busy assassinating our nations Attorney General and sweating the Russian collusion probe to really dedicate the time he needs to on immigration. Ironically, he's brazenly attacking the only person that really seems to be doing anything on the issue.
