Illegal Immigrant Suspected Of Stealing Lawman’s Identity

TEMPE, Ariz. — An employee of a Tempe landscaping business already in jail is suspected of stealing a Colorado deputy sheriff’s identity.

The El Paso County victim called Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s immigration hot line to report that his identity was being fraudulently used by an employee of Park West Landscaping in Tempe.

Late Wednesday, Arpaio’s employer sanctions detectives served a search warrant at the business and seized employment records.

Sheriff’s investigators said they identified Romairo Martinez-Ramirez, 28, as the possible perpetrator.

During a separate search warrant operation, three other suspected illegal immigrants were found at his home and taken into custody.

Martinez-Ramirez faces forgery and identity theft charges, MCSO officials said.
