The gangbangers have NO fear!!! They need to be locked up FOREVER...they are a scourge to society! A little 'racial profiling' will go a long way!

Police: 3 Teens In Custody After Shootout, Standoff With CHP

    June 1, 2008
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. - Three suspects are in custody after a shootout with California Highway Patrol officers and an overnight standoff where two of the suspects holed up in a Desert Hot Springs home, sheriff's officials said Saturday, according to City News Service. Anthony Paez, 18, and a 15-year-old boy surrendered at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday after officers used tear gas to force them out of a home in the 16000 block of Via El Rancho, said Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela.

A third suspect, Alexis Melendrez, 18, remained hospitalized for treatment of a gunshot wound to the head suffered in the initial shootout with CHP officers, according to Valenzuela.

The chain of events began at 6:08 p.m. Friday at Cactus Drive and Desert View Avenue in Desert Hot Springs, when law enforcement officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Honda Accord believed stolen, Valenzuela said.

The Honda's driver sped off, and its occupants fired multiple times on pursuing CHP officers, sheriff's officials said. The CHP officers returned fire, hitting two of the suspects, later identified as Melendrez and Paez.

Although the wounded Melendrez was grabbed by officers immediately, the other two suspects barricaded themselves in the home on Via el Rancho, Valenzuela said.

Paez was expected Saturday to be booked at Indio Jail in connection with attempted homicide of a peace officer, auto theft and felony evading, sheriff's officials said. The 15-year-old boy was expected to be booked at Indio Juvenile Hall for unrelated outstanding warrants.

Authorities consider Paez to be an acquaintance of Francisco "Pancho" Salcido, 28, who is accused of attempted murder of a peace officer in another shootout with police earlier this week in Desert Hot Springs.

Desert Hot Springs police were apparently looking for Paez when they stopped Salcido on Monday. Salcido started shooting at a police officer, who returned fire. Salcido escaped, but was arrested Wednesday.

Salcido and Paez are believed to be members of the same gang in Desert Hot Springs.

I believe the immigration status of any minor arrested for this type of crime should automatically take place and the parents should be deported if found to be here illegally.

It's no secret that many of these gang bangers are either here illegally, or the product of illegal invaders, aka anchor babies. We need to start going after the parents of these minor thugs in an effort to combat these gangs.
