FORT PIERCE -- Three men linked to a late Thursday stabbing near South 25th Street were arrested on attempted murder charges Friday morning, according to sheriff's reports.
Javier Gallo, 27, of the 500 block of Lakota Avenue, Arturo Mondono, 26, of the 200 block of Roslyn Avenue and Lopez Marcos, 18, address unknown, face attempted murder charges.

A witness reported that the three went to a friend's house to wait for Joel Smith. He arrived and the trio apparently started hitting him. One of the men pulled out a small knife and stabbed Smith in the right side of his stomach while another hit Smith with a pole. Gallo, Mondono and Marcos left in a white Ford F-250 pick-up truck, reports said.
Smith was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute to treat his stab wound and facial injuries from the fight.

The incident may have occurred over a woman — Smith told police he believes Gallo is jealous because he knows Gallo's girlfriend, reports said.

Gallo, Mondono and Marcos drove to St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie so Gallo could receive treatment for a nose injury. Gallo told detectives he and Marcos went with Mondono to "assist" him in beating Smith up for stealing money from one of Mondono's friends. The three waited for Smith to arrive at the house, and Mondono stabbed Smith during the fight, reports said.

Gallo, Mondono and Marcos are being held without bond at the St. Lucie County Jail. Mondono has 3 men charged in Fort Pierce stabbing in 2005. Federal charges for illegally entering the U.S. are pending, according to sheriff's reports.
