3 men indicted on federal immigration, drug charges

A federal grand jury returned indictments against three men arrested in East Texas on immigration and drug charges, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Jaime Ramirez-Alvarez, 38, was indicted on a charge of illegal re-entry of a deported alien after he was arrested in Titus County in December, officials said. Ramirez-Alvarez was deported in 2004 after he was convicted of driving while intoxicated in Gregg County. The charge carries a punishment of up to 10 years in federal prison and deportation.

Ramiro Cruz-Lorea, 41, of Nuevo Laredo, Tamualipas, Mexico, was indicted on a charge of illegal re-entry of a deported alien after he was arrested in Pittsburg in June and charged with sexual abuse of a child, officials said. Cruz-Lorea has been deported to Mexico on at least two occasions. The charge carries a punishment of up to 10 years in federal prison and deportation.

Leo Patrick Collins, 43, of Pine Bluff, Ark., was indicted on a charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He was arrested with about two kilograms of powder cocaine in Titus County in December, authorities said. The charge carries a punishment of he up to 40 years in federal prison.
