Georgetown Voters Elect New Mayor

GEORGETOWN, Del. (WBOC) - Edwin Lamden defeated Incumbent Michael Wyatt at the polls Saturday to become Georgetown's new mayor.

Lamden had 384 votes to Wyatt's 313. In the council race in Ward 4. Brian PettyJohn defeats incumbent Chester Johnson.

76 percent of voters came out to cast their ballot.

Lambden is a former member of town council and mail carrier. Wyatt has been mayor for four years, two terms, and served on town council for seven years before that.

Both candidates have expressed concern about enforcing codes already on Georgetown's books. Lambden says he worries about illegal immigration and future development. Lambden says Georgetown needs work to get back to the way it used to be.

"I was born and raised in this town. I'm 46-years-old and I know this town like the back of my hand. I know what it used to be and i know what it can be," Lambden says.
