CORPUS CHRISTI — Border patrol agents in Hebbronville Thursday found more than 4,000 pounds of marijuana buried in a truckload of cottonseed.

The several hundred plastic wrapped bundles, weighing 4,319 pounds collectively, were estimated to have a street value of $3.5 million, according to a news release.

A dog alerted agents working at a checkpoint to inspect the semi-truck tractor where the bundles were found, officials said. The vehicle and marijuana were turned over to the U.S. Justice Department’s Drug Enforcement Administration. The driver was released
