45 Illegal Immigrants Arrested In Anne Arundel Co.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) ― Police in Anne Arundel County are processing dozens of illegal workers after arresting them as part of a lengthy investigation.

Federal immigration officials arrested 45 illegal immigrants Monday morning who they say worked at the painting company they raided.

County Police Chief James Teare says search warrants were executed at a painting company, which is located near the Annapolis mall.

Officials say the investigation has been going on for a year. At least 50 officers from Anne Arundel County police also raided 16 homes owned by the owner of the business. The owner allowed the illegal immigrants to live in the home.

County Executive John Leopold attended a news conference announcing the bust. Leopold made illegal immigration a big part of his election campaign.

The illegals are being processed at Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices in downtown Baltimore.
