HOUSTON (AP) — Prosecutors say five Texas and Florida senior managers of the former IFCO Systems N.A. have pleaded guilty to hiring and employing illegal immigrants.
Sentencing has been set for Tuesday in federal court in Houston. Investigators say the time frame for the violations was 2003 until April 2006 at IFCO plants nationwide.
The wood pallet recycling company in 2008 agreed to pay almost $21 million to settle charges of illegal hiring in New York.
Charles Davidson of San Antonio, Christopher Tiesman and Kenneth Gines of Spring, plus Haskell "Buddy" Ross of Lakeland, Fla., and Wendy Mudra of Tampa, Fla., worked in accounting or human resources.
All five, who pleaded guilty Thursday, face maximum six-month prison terms and fines of up to $3,000 for each unauthorized worker.
