To Some in Gillibrand’s Old District, Her Evolution Is a Betrayal
By DAVID M. HALBFINGER
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Now that Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand represents all of New York rather than one conservative swath outside Albany, she has described her shift on hot-button issues like illegal immigration and gay marriage as a broadening of her position.
But in the 20th Congressional District, which first sent Ms. Gillibrand to Washington in 2006, many are taking it as an abandonment of the principles that persuaded them to support a Democrat in this predominantly Republican area.

I just called her office and told them to tell the Senator to stick to what got her elected in the 1st place which is her tough stance on illegal immigration and her support on gun control.
Please burn up her phone lines as it took me 5 minutes to get through, it WILL make a difference.

Republican congressman Pete King says Kirsten Gillibrand flip-flops
BY Glenn Blain
DAILY NEWS ALBANY BUREAU
Tuesday, February 10th 2009, 12:31 AM
ALBANY - Rep. Pete King slammed Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand as a flip-flopper Monday, saying she's "doing contortions" on issues like gay marriage, guns and immigration.
King, who is considering a challenge to Gillibrand next year, told a gathering of the state Conservative Party that he can't figure where the upstate Democrat stands on important issues.
"To change on so many fundamental issues in such a short period of time obviously raises doubts about her," King told reporters afterward. "But once she formulates her positions at least I'll know what the target is."
Gillibrand spokeswoman Rachel Mezzanine called King's comments "disappointing" and rejected his claims that Gillibrand had significantly altered her positions since being named by Gov. Paterson to fill Hillary Clinton's Senate seat last month.
King, a Nassau County Republican, said he expects to decide by late summer whether to challenge Gillibrand.
"It's an issue of money," King said. "I mean, [if the opponent had been] Caroline Kennedy, I would have announced that day.
"The only reason I'm not now is that to win in New York, a Republican-Conservative needs about $30 million to $40 million," he added. "If I think the money is there, I'll make the run."
