6 from Eastern Europe guilty of criminal prostitution in Central Florida
ORLANDO, Fla. – Six individuals from Moldova, Russia and Ukraine were found guilty Tuesday of various federal crimes, including conspiracy, traveling in interstate and foreign commerce to promote a prostitution business, and using facilities of interstate commerce to promote a prostitution business, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI), a local task force in Orlando.
Those convicted were Tatiana Belinschi, 26, and Alexandr Postica, 25, of Moldova; Saida Babaeva, 29, Aleksandra Liubina, 24, and Natalia Fedorova, 24, of Russia, and Alina Priadko, 25, of Ukraine. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 23.
According to the indictment and evidence presented at trial, a number of aliens worked together in a commercial sex business that sought to make money by providing sexual services and other services for money in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan and Massachusetts. The defendants were in the country illegally and were not authorized to work during the time periods alleged in the indictment.
The sole remaining fugitive on the indictment, Roman Caraiman, has fled the country and is being sought through an international arrest warrant.
