Officers at the Douglas Port of Entry arrested a Tucson woman Wednesday after they discovered she was trying to smuggle more than 7,800 rounds of ammunition into Mexico, according to a release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Officers arrested Ambar Esthela Morales, 23, after they discovered thousands of 7.62 millimeter rounds, most in boxes stashed in the rear quarter panel of her Ford SUV, while the remainder was mixed into a large bag of dog food.

The rounds were intended for use in AK-47 rifles, the release said.
