CENTRAL FALLS, R.I., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Seven employees at an immigrant detention center in Rhode Island face disciplinary action for the death of a man whose cancer was diagnosed late.

Punishment is expected to range from termination to reprimands, the Providence (R.I.) Journal reported.

The Central Falls Detention Facility Corp., which operates the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility, released the results Wednesday of an internal investigation into the death of Hiu Lui Ng. The 34-year-old computer engineer had cancer which was diagnosed less than a week before it killed him.

The report absolved the facility of wrongdoing. The company said that seven employees were involved in "specific failures to comply with facility policies and procedures during Mr. Ng's 25-day detention at the Facility,"

In a major story last year, The New York Times (NYSE:NYT) documented Ng's life from his arrest in 2007 to his time in various detention centers and his death at Rhode Island Hospital.

Lawyers representing Ng's family say that at Wyatt and other centers he was denied medical care and legal counsel and accused of faking his symptoms.
