7 People Trapped In Cross-Border Tunnel

SAN DIEGO - Rescue crews have freed two people from a tunnel near the U.S.-Mexico border, but five remain trapped underground, officials said. The San Diego Fire Department received a call from Border Patrol officers at about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, fire department spokesman Maurice Luque said. The officers reported that the people were trapped in the tunnel that surfaces in a parking lot on a commercial property in the 10000 block of Via de la Amistad in the Otay Mesa area. The officers said the tunnel appeared to run across the border.

Rescuers said the tunnel does not appear to have collapsed, but the opening is quite small. They are trying to enlarge the exit and free the people who remain inside, Luque said.

The two people freed from the tunnel were taken into custody by Border Patrol officers, Luque said.

Stop the rescue, tell them to go back to Mexico. I don't understand why we are wasting our money. Leave them in there until they decide to go back and tell everyone how stupid it is to cross the border in a tunnel. At least if they are caught outside of the zone, they can never become citizens.

Illegal Aliens are just like unruly children! They need to be taught some lessons, firmly told no and punished. Stop positively reinforcing their bad behavior by rewarding them with what they want. You see the kid throwing a fit at the check out because his mom said no you can't have the candy and gum. The kid yells, starts stomping his feet and protest. A stupid mother will cave in and buy the candy to shut the kid up, a smart one will take the kid outside and deal with the problem. The next time the smart mom goes to the store and the fit starts, all she has to do is remind the brat of the consequences but the dumb one will be in the same place she was last time. Discipline works.

We've got to tell the illegal aliens that they can't have any candy and the consequences of taking it are not pleasant.

I agree Dixie. Tell them to go back through and go out the end that they managed to fit through. Oh, BTW, will they be deported as they're suppose to be after they get them out ? Or do we need a little U.S. hospital stay
