PHOENIX - New figures released Friday show that 71 people in all were arrested in Phoenix during protests of Arizona's new immigration law.

The protests were held Thursday as the new law took effect, although without its strongest provisions.

Phoenix police said they arrested 45 people during protests in front of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's headquarters downtown and in surrounding areas.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office arrested 23 people outside a downtown jail where protesters beat on the metal door and forced sheriff's deputies to call for backup. Officers in riot gear opened the doors, waded out into the crowd and hauled off those who didn't move.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested three people in front of the federal courthouse downtown.

Good! Ask everyone for ID and if they don't have any, lock em up and sort em out. Fine and deport the illegal ones! Fine the legal ones.

Hope they don't let them out without a hefty bail, like $10,000 each.

Once again we don't know which media to trust. It appears that most media is obediently going with the party line that the protesters were peaceful but our local liberal rag, who is proudly underwriting the ACLU suit against AZ states that once again they were throwing their water bottles, hurling profanity and insults including calling Latino law enforcement traitor, that last one in Spanish of course.

Heard Sheriff Joe on John and Ken's show tonight. Sheriff said some Californians bused in are still there.

They wanted to know specifically how his men handled a similar situation we had here in downtown LA during the protests. Some protesters had themselves somehow tied together by some kind of piping and laid down in the middle of a busy intersection of LA and our police didn't do anything for about 6 hrs. Traffic was a mess. We heard the police had to call in some kind of special unit, or something like that, to dismantle the contraption the protesters were in...yada yada. They heard some pulled the same stunt there and they asked how long it took for his men to get the people our of their get-up and the sheriff said about 20 min maybe. What a diff. But then there is a big diff between Phoenix police and the LA police.

It's funny that illegals are portrayed as victims, but the liberal media and illegal alien advocates don't see a problem with the rioters getting violent with the cops.
