815 illegal immigrants deported from Nigeria

99 percent of the immigrants were from neighbouring Niger while the rest were Ghanaians and Beninoise, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkarim, the Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in charge of Niger Command, said in an interview on Saturday evening.

He said the deportees were arrested within the state when they could not produce valid immigration documents or justify their continuing stay in the country.

According to Abdulkarim during the year, 908 Nigeriens, 192 Beninoise and 162 Ghanaians that could not produce valid travelling documents were refused entry into the country at Babana border town in the state.

He said within the period, 2,060 Nigerians, 1,719 Nigeriens; 368 Beninoise and 253 Ghanaians left the country through that part of the border.
