July 25, 2007 - Democratic Cook County Commissioner Roberto Maldonado officially announced Wednesday he will run for a congressional seat in 2008.

Maldonado, first elected to the Cook County Board in 1994, will challenge U.S. Rep. Luiz Gutierrez, a Democrat elected to a seventh term in Congress in 2006.

Maldonado, the first Puerto Rican in the nation to serve as a county commissioner, according to his website, said in a release announcing his candidacy:

"During my twelve years as a Cook County Commissioner of the 8th District (which includes nearly half of the 4th Congressional District), I have championed legislation that brought homeowners tax relief, won workers a living wage and passed numerous initiatives, including a mail-order prescription drug program, that have opened the public health system for uninsured and underinsured families and seniors.

"I have successfully secured passage of several measures supporting immigration reform, and, recently, I claimed victory in declaring Cook County a 'Fair and Equal County for Immigrants.'

"I will bring this same passion and conviction to Congress. I will work hard to bring fundamental change to outdated, broken laws and policies to meet our 21st century needs."

The Democratic primary will be conducted Feb. 3, 2008.

This is the wave of the future unless we get the country cleaned out.

Hit the employer - dry up the jobs. WE can't wait 2 years for the government to decide what design the fence should be or to put up 10 feet of it.

We need to do something now.

Nope

It's an illegal alien haven despite the rise in murders, gangs, drugs and graffiti. The newspapers even go so far as to MASK the names and illegal status of the criminals no matter how heinous the crime.

I have written complaints to several columnist in both the SunTimes and Tribune and the response is usually: "We didn't have the name of the suspect at the time" or we have no knowlege of their status being illegal since we are not allowed to ask".

Adding insult to injury Cook County (home of Chicago) has an estimated 9 Million Dollar deficit and the budget is 55+ days beyond the date of passage. Despite all of the corruption/confusion, its business as usual with these creeps.

Here are two perfect examples that points the finger of illegality, its not rocket science especially when you are familiar with the areas these crimes take place in and usually their criminal activity has the same obvious characteristics:

1. MONDAY | 9:30 P.M. HUMBOLDT PARK:
Group pummels man to death
A 31-year-old man, Juan Reyes, was beaten to death by a group of alleged gang members in the 2700 block of West Haddon Avenue. The man was pronounced dead at 10:29 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital. The attackers are at large.

3. TUESDAY | 9:30 A.M. BACK OF THE YARDS:

Truck rams Chicken Shack

A pickup truck smashed into a Harold's Chicken Shack after running a red light and colliding with a passing car at 51st and Damen, authorities said. The truck's driver and a passenger and the car's driver were taken to Holy Cross Hospital in stable condition. The driver of the truck was ticketed for driving without a valid license, running the light and having no proof of insurance.

The one positive note.......he can't be worse than Luis Gutierrez!

Don't be so sure.......corrupt seems to be the only "in" in this state.

I would hope the people of Chicago would have better since and would replace Luis with an anti illegal immigrant politician after the crap this last year!! You people had better start way ahead of time looking for some good canidates!!
