Poll: 58 percent disapprove of Trump's handling of immigration
Poll: 58 percent disapprove of Trump's handling of immigration

More than half of American voters surveyed by Quinnipiac University for a recent poll said they disapprove of the way President Donald Trump has handled immigration.
Just 39 percent of those polled said they approve of Trump’s handling of immigration, while 58 percent said they disapprove. But 50 percent of respondents said they believe the motive behind the president’s immigration policies is “a sincere interest in controlling our borders."
Similarly, 47 percent of those polled said they do not believe the president is racist, compared with 49 percent who said he is. Forty-four percent of respondents said the motive for his immigration policies is “racist beliefs.”
Trump’s immigration policies have drawn significant scrutiny in recent weeks thanks to the administration’s move to refer all illegal border-crossers for prosecution, a step that resulted in thousands of children being separated from their parents. Trump administration officials initially described the practice as a deterrent against illegal immigration but later said that separating families had merely been a consequence of enforcing the law, not an intended outcome.
After days of pressure, Trump signed an executive order ending the practice of family separation, but it is unclear what effect the order has had and how quickly the separated families are being reunited. Sixty percent of respondents to the Quinnipiac poll said the separation of families was a violation of human rights, and 83 percent said the Trump administration has a responsibility to reunite the separated families.
Trump, who has insisted that any immigration legislation be included in a larger reform package that also includes money for a border wall and the end of certain legal immigration programs, has complained often that Democrats in Congress are unwilling to find a solution on immigration because they want to campaign on the issue.
Sixty percent of voters polled agreed with the president’s argument that Democrats are more interested in "exploiting the nation's immigration issue for political gain,” compared to 34 percent of respondents who said Democrats are more interested in "resolving the nation's immigration issue."
The Quinnipiac University poll was conducted via landlines and cellphones in both Spanish and English, contacting 1,020 registered voters nationwide. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 3.7 points.

It's been a clusterfvck no doubt about it, but it will get fixed. Trump can't rely on the agencies or Congress, he's got to solve the problem outside of the agencies and Congress. And he will.

LOL!! The "majority" got US into this mess, I'm with the "minority" that elected Trump President of the United States.
Border Patrol isn't allowed to go into the Rio Grande to arrest a smuggler but they're allowed to go into the Rio Grande to save a twice deported illegal alien. Border Patrol has half the volume, twice the agents and billions of dollars worth of technical resources including surveillance cameras and so forth than it has years ago, yet they can't stop the flow. The agencies can't do it no matter how many people, equipment and resources they have.
At some point after 30 years of this disgusting mess, someone has to stand up and say, this isn't working, and develop a new plan. That's what Trump is going to do.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

I don't think he is waiting. Why do you think he's "waiting"?

Yes, I do, I watched every single one of them. It will be easy. Just not quick. Trump knew with relative certainly he wouldn't ever get the money from Congress, that's why he said at the rallies, Mexico will pay for it. Trump tried to get the money from Congress to expedite the process, but no luck, not even with a DACA deal. Now it's true that he stacked the DACA deal so high that it would never likely pass, but he threw it at 'em and said if you give me everything, then I'll do a DACA, but he only did that to get the CR last fall when we were facing a war with North Korea and dealing with 3 Hurricanes. But the support isn't there for all that he wants through Congress, so it won't happen until next year at the earliest and that assumes Republicans not only win the midterms, but wom by a lot, especially in the Senate. We need 10 more Republican Senators to ever do anything through Congress. I'll hope we win the midterms and will work towards it, I'll hope we even win 10 more Senate seats, and work towards it, but talk about a miracle, that would be a miracle.
So we need Plan B that doesn't involve Congress or Agencies and Trump will deliver on it. He's been setting it up since he took office, so just watch what happens.
Everything on immigration from Congress to Agencies to Courts is a giant clusterfvck, there is no solution through these elements of our government, that's why we have the problem to begin with. The solution is outside of these agencies and organizations.Last edited by Judy; 07-03-2018 at 08:49 PM.
