ACLU issues warnings for travel to Arizona

ACLU issues warnings for travel to Arizona

    Associated Press .

The nation's top civil liberties group has issued travel warnings for Arizona, saying the state's new law cracking down on illegal immigrants could lead to racial profiling and warrantless arrests.

American Civil Liberties Union affiliates in Arizona, New Mexico and 26 other states put out the alerts on Wednesday. The Arizona chapter says they've received reports that law enforcement officers are already targeting some people even though the law doesn't go into effect until July 29.

The alerts are designed to teach people about their rights if they are stopped and questioned by police.

The law requires police to question a person's immigration status during legal encounters if they suspect they are an illegal immigrant.

Its backers say it prohibits racial profiling.

It was already against the law to be in the country illegally so there was no "targetting" of "some people" going on.

Thanks ACLU for the warning, but I'm going to take my chances. My family will be visiting Arizona is a couple of weeks. We are not worried about profiling and are looking forward to our vacation!

Yes and all over the news they are talking about the ACLU "busted card" that they are passing out. Where to get one I do not know. It advises you of your constitutional rights - but if you are not a citizen you do not have constitutional rights.

    Has ACLU ever been "busted?"

Has ACLU ever done anything that US citizens agree with?

    the ACLU is a joke.

i can believe they would put out this kind of warning, but most people already know what the law is and are in the majority of americans who support it.

    ACLU change your damn name
