There will be no cooperation from Mexico. The murders probably have ties to the Mexican police or military. Or Mexican officials are bought off and protect the cartel members.
    They'll never find them.
How in the hell did they manage to get into Mexico anyhow? After they hit that BP officer everybody in the place should have opened up on them. Any armed civilians nearby should have joined in, too. How much longer are we going to be expected to sit here and put up with this crap? Our country is slowly being turned into a Third World hellhole right in front of our eyes, our military is thousands of miles away, and our gubmint turns a blind eye while American after American after American is slaughtered in cold blood. The day is going to come when all hell is going to break loose and it won't be pretty.

Were the vehicles and the murders caught?

Was the Hummer a Mexican police, army or private vehicle?

In view of the recent violence in Mexican border towns, are the border agents equipped with the necessary tools to defend themselves and us if the violence spills over the border?

I have no idea as to why but Hummers seem to be the vehicle of choice for the professinal smugglers.

Before there was a Hummer, there was its sister the HUM-V. The HUM-V was used by the military because of how well it handled off the road driving. My ex used to drive them when he was in the service and claimed they were fun because they could go anywhere, places no other vehicle on earth could go without either getting stuck or tipping over.

It was probably the best vehicle for running in the dunes to Mexico. That is why the smugglers love them.

US border agent hit, killed by suspect's car
    Sat Jan 19, 2008 11:30pm EST

PHOENIX, Jan 19 (Reuters) - A U.S. Border Patrol agent trying to stop a suspected drug smuggler was struck and killed by the suspect's car in southern California on Saturday, border police said.

The unidentified agent was hit as he tried to stop a sport utility vehicle on a road about 20 miles (32 km) west of Yuma, Arizona, at around 9:30 a.m. local time, Border Patrol agent Jeremy Schappell said.

"The agent was laying a spike strip across the road when the vehicle swerved and struck him. He died at the scene," Schappell said in a telephone interview.

He said Border Patrol agents had been pursuing two vehicles that were suspected of smuggling narcotics north from Mexico, near the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, in southeast California.

After the incident, both vehicles fled the scene.

The dead agent's name was not released by the patrol.

Last year, the U.S. Border Patrol arrested more than 880,000 people crossing illegally from Mexico and seized hundreds of tons of narcotics.

Border Patrol agent dies, struck by fleeing vehicle in Calif.

    By: Associated Press -
    January 19, 2008

YUMA, Ariz. -- A U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed Saturday when he was struck by a fleeing vehicle along the border in southeastern California, agency officials said.

The agent was trying to stop a vehicle that had illegally entered the country from Mexico when he was hit, said agent Eric Anderson, a spokesman for the agency's Yuma sector. The incident happened in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area about 20 miles west of Yuma at about 9 a.m.

Details of the incident are still under investigation and Anderson said he didn't know if any suspects had been caught. The agent's name is being withheld until relatives have been notified.

"The agent attempted to impede their progress," Anderson said. "We don't really know what happened then -- he was either struck or run over by the vehicle, which resulted in the loss of one of our agent's lives."

Witnesses told the Yuma Sun newspaper that agents were chasing a Hummer and a Ford pickup on Interstate 8 when the vehicles turned into the dunes and fled toward Mexico. The agent was trying to place spike strips in their path and was struck by the Hummer.

The Imperial Sand Dunes are the largest dunes in California, extending north of the border for 40 miles and averaging five miles wide.

The area is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts but also is frequently used by smugglers trying to bring people or drugs into the country from Mexico.
