McALLEN (AP) — Two brothers and a sister with ties to a drug trafficking ring linked to Mexico's Gulf cartel and run by a retired Mexican state police commander have pleaded guilty to federal drug and money laundering charges in McAllen.
U.S. District Judge Randy Crane told Juan Oscar Garza-Alanis and Josue Ruperto Garza on Monday that they could face life in prison at sentencing in December.
The Garza brothers and Cantalicia Garza, the sister who pleaded guilty to the same charges Friday, helped move cocaine from Mexico to the U.S. and the cash revenue from drug sales in the opposite direction for Carlos Landin Martinez.
At the time, Landin Martinez was second in command in Reynosa, for the Gulf cartel. He was sentenced to life in prison in April 2008.
