I wonder how many states have this ? It would be great to fund the border states. I'm going to contact the Ohio State Patrol and inquire about this program.

Alabama Troopers Get Federal Equipment To Fight Illegal Immigration
Nov 3, 2006 06:40 PM CST
The federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency is putting some big dollars into the pockets of Alabama state troopers. They will receive $2.5 million in specialized computers and equipment to help catch illegal immigrants.
Since 2003, 60 Alabama state troopers have been federally trained to arrest those who are in the United States illegally.
"We're very busy. Over the state, we've arrested 200 illegal aliens, probably 250 at this point," said Tpr. Eric Dowdell.
Because of Alabama's success rate, every ICE-trained trooper will get a new laptop in their car to speed up the arrest.
"They won't have the ability to lie. If they're in the federal computer, we're able to find out if they've got a warrant, if they're a felon, or if they've been previously deported within seconds," said Cpl. Susanna Capps.
There will also be 19 areas around the state with digital cameras, fingerprint scanners and integrated computers.
"It's going to help expedite the arrest process and processing illegal immigrants. Normally, we'd get federal agents to come in and process them. Now, we can do it," Dowdell said.
ICE will also pick up the $2.5 million tab to install and maintain the equipment. One Opelika resident said she's thankful her federal tax dollars are being used to keep people in her state safe.
"I think it's a wonderful idea. They're doing something very important with it. I think it's a grand idea," said Elizabeth Vaughn.
In addition to the computer equipment, two booking facilities will be used as processing stations for illegal immigrants. There's no word yet where they will be located. Troopers say they're thankful the federal government thinks highly of their efforts and is willing to invest the money in Alabama.

Maybe Senator Jeff Sessions had some pull for his state? I don't know if that is possible. Glad Alabama is getting some help at least.
