Obama immigration meeting postponed yet again

President Barack Obama's administration has indefinitely delayed a scheduled meeting with members of Congress on immigration reform.

It's the second time this month that the meeting, originally scheduled for June 8, has been pushed back, now with no set date.

The blogs and news sites started buzzing with speculation right away. The headline at Kiplinger.com read: Immigration: White House Likely to Disappoint.

But advocates refused to take the delay as a sign of a lack of commitment by the Obama administration, issuing statements predicting that an immigration reform plan will move forward this year.

Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, an immigrant advocacy organization, released a statement saying that delaying the meeting is a "mistake."

"Momentum is building for comprehensive immigration reform with more and more Americans demanding solutions," Noorani said in the statement. "The President is too smart not to move on immigration reform this year. We don't see this as a signal that President Obama is stepping back from reform."
