Senate Republican Conference Chairman Lamar Alexander (Tenn.) on Thursday once again urged Democrats to abandon their efforts to enact wholesale changes to the nation’s health care system or overhaul energy and immigration policies, arguing that Sen.-elect Scott Brown’s (R) victory in the Massachusetts special election suggests the public wants a less ambitious approach.

“Tuesday’s election in Massachusetts is the latest reminder that the American people are tired of risky comprehensive schemes featuring taxes, debt, Washington takeovers — and lots of hidden and unexpected surprises,â€

I can write a real simple bill:
Path to citizenship for those here illegally: NO
Food stamps, Medicaid, rent assistance, or other subsidies for those here illegally: NO
Employing illegal aliens, or aiding and abetting in any way: NO
Birthright citizenship to children born of illegal aliens: NO
In-state tuition for illegals: NO
Health insurance for illegals: NO
Maximum penalties for document fraud when captured jaywalking, spitting on sidewalks, or overcrowding housing units: YES
Military court of justice for all those caught re-entering after deportation: YES
And the title of the bill will be No Amnesty until Hell Freezes Over.

Now THAT is hope and change I can believe in!

I for one, am not impressed with Sen. Alexander. He is a remnant of the Terry Sciavo fiasco. So what if he used to be the governor. He merely chimes into the press releases of others after the fact. He is useless, just collecting a paycheck. I respect the office he holds but not him.
