Two illegal immigrants who police said smuggled 14 other illegal aliens within the country were sentenced Thursday to three months time served in federal court in Pittsburgh.

The Mexican man, who had previously been arrested and deported, and the Guatemalan were also fined $200 each by U.S. District Judge Gary Lancaster after they pleaded guilty to violating federal immigration laws, said U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan.

Juan Manual Bolio-Carmona, 22, of Mexico, and Pascual Elias Diego-Pablo, 22, an illegal alien from Guatemala, were transporting themselves and 14 other illegals within the country when the smuggling operation was halted by state police in Mercer, said assistant U.S. Attorney Ross. E. Lenhardt.

Buchanan commended Trooper Eric Miller of the Mercer barracks and a federal immigration official for the investigation leading the prosecution of Bolio-Carmona and Diego-Pablo.
